Recently, my younger son and I were going through some old family albums and he saw older son and I having a great time at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. You can guess what he wants to do for our next vacation. It’s definitely a blast for a kid. I used to live in Florida, and every year, we’d get some Disney Tickets and drive on up to Orlando, where we’d spend a couple of days having the time of our lives. I have photos from those days as well, although they are a bit faded now.
It’s funny how you don’t outgrow things like the Magic Kingdom Park. It’s still my favorite one, and even though I can’t ride the Mad Tea Party ten times in a row like I used to, I still love the rides. My favorite ride as a teenager was always Space Mountain, and now my older son claims that one as a favorite as well. I have to admit that I favor the more sedate rides now, like The Haunted Mansion or Peter Pan’s Flight. And, I absolutely adore the “it’s a small world” ride! I can go on that one over and over again. Of course, the price I pay for that is having the theme song stuck in my head for the next two months, but that’s okay!
The reason the Magic Kingdom Park is special to me is precisely because of rides like Peter Pan’s Flight (my favorite). It is simply amazing how much work goes into making those rides really feel as though you have just stepped into another dimension.
Of course, there’s more than just the rides. The parades are amazing, of course, and kids love the characters running around that make for darling photo opportunities for their parents. One of my favorite photos of my older son is one of Mickey Mouse playing with his hair when he was three years old. The smile on his face, and just his overall amazement in general is my favorite memory from all of my trips to Disney World.
