My neighbor and I have been having some tensions lately. A while back, her daughter had a party, and one of her drunken friends peeled out of their driveway and hit my minivan smack dab in the side, leaving a big nasty dent. The thing is, the daughter will not name who it was who did it, leaving me to fix it myself. I only have liability insurance (more than he had, I’ll bet) so insurance isn’t going to pay for it. I could take it to a shop like the auto body yorba linda place, but truth be told, I’m loathe to even spend a dime getting the dent fixed, even if the body shop has good prices. At this point, the blue book value of the van is less than a thousand dollars, and it just seems pointless. Especially when my husband is telling me not to drive the van anywhere too far away because he’s afraid it will break down! So I think it’s probably better just to save the money that I would have spent fixing the dent on a down payment for a new car. I’m still trying to get over being a bit peeved at my neighbor, though.

I’m absolutely thrilled with all the weight I’ve been losing. I even managed to lose a couple of pounds during the holidays, if you can believe it. One of the first things I did after the holiday was take advantage of one of the sales and order a new pair of jeans in a smaller size. One concern I do have about losing weight is how my body will look when I’m at my goal weight. I’m not that worried about it, since health is the most important thing, but I do hate to see my twins getting smaller! I can totally see why people have Breast Enlargement done after they lose a bunch of weight. By the time I’m finished, I’ll have most likely went from a D cup to a B cup. This will actually be okay as long as things stay firmed up. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! They say that slow weight loss is the way to go, and that has certainly been the case. I probably wouldn’t get my breasts enlarged, but I can see getting a tummy tuck. That is, if I can get over my trepidation about having any kind of surgery. I just know that there is no way I will ever be wearing a bikini unless I do something about it!

I’m determined to have more adventures this year. I recently was inspired by reading the story of a woman who rode a Vespa across the country. A Vespa! Can you believe it? She braved all sorts of weather in order to meet her goal, which I don’t think I would have liked. At the very least, I would have wanted to ride a regular motorcycle tricked out with Kewl Metal accessories because I’m more materialistic than she is and I would have wanted to avoid the traffic problems that she had with the scooter. It’s a moot point for me, because right now, I’m on a bike, but it’s a mountain bike. This is for the best right now, even though having a motorcycle would absolutely be cool. I need to lose the rest of my weight, and riding a bike every day is making that particular goal more and more possible. Besides, my son loves it. There is nothing like having a kid who is pestering you to go bike riding to motivate you. He also motivates me towards my original resolution though. When you have a ten-year-old, you have to have adventures! I can see us setting out on a road trip ourselves, although it probably won’t be on a bike. But then, you never know.

Recently, my husband was taking a coworker to work every day, home for lunch, and then home again after work. This went on for about two months, and really got old because he had to get up early every morning to go and get this guy and then get to work on time. Since I make him coffee before he goes to work, I was especially annoyed. My husband kept saying that the guy doesn’t have good credit, and that his girlfriend keeps spending any money that he makes. So finally the guy goes and gets one of those personal loans for people with bad credit. Thank goodness. He got himself some transportation, and yesterday was the first time in two months that my husband didn’t have to give this guy a ride to work. He got the loan just in time, because after two months, he hadn’t offered my husband gas money–unbelievable! My husband truly has the patience of a saint, which is a good thing, since he’s married to me. I felt that this guy was totally taking advantage of hubby’s goodwill, which he was. I’m glad he was finally able to get his own transportation so that we can both get an extra half hour sleep in the morning!
